Our excellent classroom facilities
provide for effectual, unique and dynamic presentations from some
of the most qualified instructors in their fields. Instructor and
student interaction is an essential part of our participation style
of classroom instruction. Our extensive up-to-date fleet of construction
equipment and machinery equipped with the latest in advanced technology
provides the critical link between our classrooms and the field.
We have a 60-acre campus located
18 miles south of Spokane, Washington - just a twenty minute drive.
The training site provides the perfect environment for our students
to develop their classroom lecture knowledge along with actual hands-on
skill training simulated in the field like that is often found on
today's most complex construction sites.
Skills learned at our facility
provide the necessary tools to develop a competitive, highly skilled,
conscious and safe worker, whether they are an entry level Apprentice,
a seasoned Crane Operator or a Construction Manager. We have a variety
of useful and meaningful courses specifically designed to be helpful
in today's construction industry.
Our school provides Apprenticeship
training in the States of Washington and Idaho and has Standards
of Apprenticeship approved by both the Washington State Apprenticeship
and Training Council and the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training
U.S. Department of Labor. Western States Operating Engineers Institute
of Training provides Apprenticeship opportunities for skilled Occupational
Objectives of the Heavy Duty Mechanic Repairperson, Construction
Equipment Operator, Technical Engineer and Hoisting Engineer for
the Apprenticeship community.
Western States Operating
Engineers Institute of Training is funded through our membership
and the employers of the organized labor construction industry.
Our workers operate and maintain the heavy duty equipment and cranes
that construct and build our communities. Whether it is the street
you drive on, the parking garages you park in, the bridges you drive
over, the freeways you travel on, or the landmarks you visit, such
as the Statue of Liberty, Grand Coulee Dam, and the Golden Gate
Bridge, you can bet they were built by Operating Engineers and their
employers.
