The 'Hoisting Engineer' commonly operates the various large types
of cranes that are found in today's construction industry. An example
of the type of training that a 'Hoisting Engineer' receives includes,
but is not limited to, rigging the load, signaling the load, pre-operational
checks, operating the crane, inspecting the crane, maintaining the
crane and repairing the crane.
The
term of apprenticeship for a 'Hoisting Engineer' is 8,000 hours
of on-the-job work experience. The official DOT (Department
of Transportation) number for this occupation is 921.633-030.
As an Operating Engineer Hoisting Engineer Apprentice student
will receive the instruction and experience that are necessary
to develop a practical and skilled journey person that is well
versed in the theory and practice of his or her particular trade
classification. This is done by using the following appropriate
schedule of work experience as a guide: |
