The 'Construction Equipment Operator' commonly operates heavy equipment
and machinery that are found in today's construction industry. An
example of the types' equipment operated includes, but is not limited
to, bulldozers, track type and rubber tired backhoes, rubber tire
loaders, motor graders, scrapers, rollers, boom trucks, forklifts,
laser controlled equipment and the operation of automatic machine
control.
The term of apprenticeship for a 'Construction Equipment Operator'
is 8,000 hours of on-the-job work experience. The official DOT (Department
of Transportation) number for this occupation is 859.683-010. As
an Operating Engineer Construction Equipment Operator Apprentice
the student will receive the instruction and experience that are
necessary to develop a practical and skilled journey person that
is well versed in the theory and practice of his or her particular
trade classification. This is done by using the following appropriate
schedule of work experience as a guide:
