COURSE
OUTLINE
CRANE
CAPACITY CHARTS AND RANGE DIAGRAMS: The correct selection
and interpretation of the information supplied on crane capacity
charts and range diagrams is particularly useful in pre-lift job
planning and accident investigation. During this segment participants
will review several hydraulic and lattice boom crane load charts
and perform classroom exercises to improve their interpretation
skills.
RIGGING
APPLICATIONS AND INSPECTION: Rigging selection, application,
inspection and removal from service criteria are studied during
this segment through classroom and hands-on participation.
PROPER
CRANE SET-UP: Following classroom discussion of the
important points necessary to properly set-up crawler and rubber
tired cranes the group will have the opportunity to apply and assess
their knowledge through actual hands-on experience.
JOB-SITE
SAFETY ANALYSIS: Job-site safety can be greatly affected
by developing a comprehensive safety program to improve accident
prevention procedures. Participants to this training program learn
to recognize potentially hazardous, or improper, situations and
conditions that could lead to a craning or rigging accident. Job
safety analysis is a basic approach to developing effective accident
prevention by identifying the hazard and developing solutions to
control or reduce the hazard.
CRANE
INSPECTION: Regular and frequent inspections of all
hoisting and rigging equipment are the responsibility of management
and on-site personnel but frequently not performed correctly. During
this session the group will review these areas of inspection and
what specific problems or damage they might be looking for.
RECORDS
& LOG BOOKS: This session contains a review of the
information required in the maintenance of inspection and repair
records and crane log books.
HANDS-ON
PROFICIENCY TEST: At the conclusion of this training
program the participants will have the opportunity to practice their
powers of observation by conducting an actual job audit of the training
sites' craning and construction equipment and procedures.
